Meta to spend $10B on Google cloud services

Meta has agreed to spend over $10 billion on Google Cloud services in a six-year deal.

The agreement focuses on artificial intelligence infrastructure to support Meta’s Llama models and other AI initiatives.

Under the deal, the social media giant will use Google Cloud’s servers, storage, networking, and other services to support its AI and data center needs. This marks Google’s second major recent cloud agreement, following one with OpenAI.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently said the company would spend hundreds of billions to build massive AI data centers.

Google Cloud, which earned $2.83 billion in operating income out of $13.6 billion Q2 revenue, is chasing larger rivals Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure.

Meta, traditionally a Google ads competitor, also uses Amazon and Microsoft cloud services. 

The company expects 2025 expenses of $114–$118 billion as it invests heavily in AI talent and infrastructure.
