A new online marketplace, RentAHuman, gives a twist to the now-common fear that AI will take human jobs. It allows AI agents to hire people to finish physical tasks in the real world.

Created by 26-year-old crypto engineer Alexander Liteplo, the platform debuted on February 1. As of writing, over 500,000 people have signed up to offer their labor to autonomous bots.

The tasks or “bounties” range from the practical to the bizarre, including delivering CBD gummies, playing exhibition badminton, and even counting pigeons. Some gigs pay as much as $100 per hour.

The platform allows AI models like Claude to search, book, and pay human workers.

Founder Liteplo says that current AI bots are “brains in a jar” and are physically incapable. He views RentAHuman as bringing the gap.

However, a Wired journalist tested the jobs offered and found that many of the tasks were publicity stunts for AI startups.
