Legendary Hollywood actor Robert Duvall has passed away at the age of 95, his wife, actress Luciana, confirmed.

The Oscar-winning actor’s career spanned over six decades and was marked by his gritty, naturalistic performances in cult films such as The Godfather and Apocalypse Now. His Best Actor win was in 1984, for his understated performance in Tender Mercies.

Duvall was celebrated for his seamless ability to disappear into characters, ranging from the reclusive Boo Radley in To Kill a Mockingbird to a violent preacher in The Apostle, the latter of which was directed by him and received several awards and nominations.

Beyond the silver screen, Duvall was a force in television, earning multiple Emmy Awards for projects like Lonesome Dove.
