On Kalshi, AI currently shows a 55% chance of winning the award, while Polymarket puts the odds at 47%
Time magazine will announce its Person of the Year for 2025 on Thursday, and bettors on prediction market sites Polymarket and Kalshi are strongly leaning toward artificial intelligence over humans.
On Kalshi, AI currently shows a 55% chance of winning, while Polymarket puts the odds at 47%. Others on the betting list include tech CEOs Sam Altman (OpenAI) and Jensen Huang (Nvidia), as well as Pope Leo XIV.
While it is rare for Time to choose a non-human winner for the accolade, the magazine broke tradition in 1982 to name the personal computer as ‘Machine of the Year.’ The Endangered Earth cover won in 1988, and in 2022, the award went to ‘The Spirit of Ukraine.’
President Donald Trump was Time’s Person of the Year for 2024, succeeding Taylor Swift, who won in 2023.
