Uber to cut 3,300 jobs in major restructuring

Uber, led by CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, is laying off about 3,300 employees to make the company “simpler and faster” and invest more in competing with robotaxi and delivery services.

Uber had 34,000 employees at the end of 2025. CEO Khosrowshahi announced the restructuring in an internal email, revealing plans to cut 20% of manager positions.

Shares rose nearly 2% after the news.

Uber’s planned commitments include more than $10 billion for autonomous vehicles in the coming years.

It faces heavy competition from Alphabet’s Waymo in the self-driving race.
