Volkswagen is considering shutting four factories in Germany and cutting up to 100,000 jobs, a move that could mark the industry’s largest-ever overhaul.
The automaker is under pressure from Chinese competitors, US auto tariffs, and soft demand in Europe, which it says has rendered its business model unsustainable.
The plan marks an escalation of Volkswagen’s restructuring, which already called for 50,000 job cuts in Germany by 2030.
