Boeing received another blow yesterday at two Senate committee hearings when a key witness, quality engineer Sam Salehpour, a whistleblower, said he was testifying as he believed that “they are putting out defective airplanes.”

He also claims he was threatened when he brought safety concerns to his managers.

The hearings focused on whistleblower testimonies and the lack of documentation surrounding the blown-out door plug incident on an Alaska Airlines narrowbody jet.

Salehpour highlighted critical flaws in more than a thousand 787 Dreamliners.

In other Boeing news, United Airlines disclosed a confidential agreement with Boeing, compensating for financial losses incurred due to the grounding of the Boeing 737 MAX 9. The revelation came after United attributed a $200 million hit to its earnings in the first three months of the year to Boeing.
