Starbucks will require corporate employees to work from the office at least four days a week starting in October, up from the current three.
CEO Brian Niccol announced the change as part of the company’s “Back to Starbucks” turnaround plan.
Remote leaders and managers must relocate to Seattle or Toronto within 12 months.
Those unwilling to comply can opt for a voluntary exit package with cash compensation. The move follows February’s layoff of 1,100 corporate workers.
Starbucks faces declining sales, boycotts, and executive turnover. Other companies, including JPMorgan and Amazon, have also tightened hybrid policies, often facing employee backlash.
