Target is facing a 40-day boycott by over 100,000 people over the company’s decision to roll back diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives in January.

The snub began on Wednesday.

The company recently eliminated minority hiring goals and ended its racial justice executive committee.

The boycott comes during a tough time
Consumer visits to Target have declined more than those of Walmart and Costco in recent weeks, according to Placer.ai.

The retailer’s sales dropped in February and are expected to grow by only 1% this year.

The boycott comes as Target faces economic challenges and tariff pressures. CEO Brian Cornell warned that President Donald Trump’s levies on Mexican produce may lead to higher prices, deterring consumers.
