States including Colorado, Utah, Montana and Idaho issued warnings to the public as the air quality in the area declined due to the raging, weeks-long wildfires in Canada.

Drivers were asked to take precautions and people with respiratory illness were advised to stay indoors. The smoke is expected to continue and impact northern US states. The National Weather Service forecasting says it will continue through Tuesday.

As of Sunday evening, 83 wildfires were burning in Alberta, Canada.
