Hurricane Idalia has turned into a catastrophic Category 4 storm with maximum sustained winds of 130 mph. Forecasters predict it to make landfall in the Florida Big Bend region this morning.

The National Hurricane Center warns Idalia will bring in destructive waves and life-threatening winds and inundate portions of the Florida Gulf Coast. Water levels in the area are expected to surge 12-16 feet. The storm has already flooded some coastal areas in Florida.

Governor Ron DeSantis informed people in the storm's path that they may lose power and urged them to obey evacuation warnings.
