In a single tweet, Elon Musk managed to offend people in the transgender, non-binary, medical, and political communities when he tweeted, “My pronouns are Prosecute/Fauci,” Sunday evening.

His tweet sides with Republicans who have insisted that National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) director Anthony Fauci be investigated for his role in the COVID-19 pandemic. “I affirm your pronouns Elon,” tweeted Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene.

Musk’s tweet also received backlash from Democrats like Sen. Amy Klobuchar, Congressmen Ritchie Torres, Dean Phillips, and even former CIA director John Brennan.

Fauci announced in August that he will step down from government roles at the end of 2022.

In a Friday interview he said, “If I become a punching bag, I’m a punching bag. But I am very happy to testify before any congressional oversight committee, I have nothing to hide, I can explain and validate everything that I’ve done.”
