After attending the G7 in Japan early this week, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made a surprise video appearance from Kyiv for the graduating class of 2023 at Johns Hopkins University at their commencement Thursday.

Zelensky delivered his address to students at the university’s Baltimore campus. He stressed the importance of time, freedom and democracy in his speech, and thanked the Biden administration and the US for their continued support to Ukraine.

He was also awarded an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree by Johns Hopkins University President Ron Daniels.

This is Zelensky’s second address at a US university. In May 2022 he delivered a virtual address at the Stanford University graduation.
