Brent settled at $101.21 per barrel, while US crude finished at $96.05 per barrel
Global oil benchmark Brent crude rose above $100 on Wednesday for the first time since July and settled at $101.21 per barrel.
The US crude finished at $96.05 per barrel. Since the start of the year, both benchmarks have climbed by nearly 70%.
Escalating attacks between the US and Iran in the Middle East have fueled the rally. US forces destroyed five Iranian tankers, and Tehran-backed Houthi rebel attacks set Saudi Arabian oil facilities on fire.
US gas prices climbed to $4.22 yesterday.
With energy prices looming over the midterms, President Trump said yesterday that prices will fall—but only after the election.
Meanwhile, energy experts warn Brent crude could reach $120 to $150 per barrel if the US-Iran stalemate persists.
