Barbie caused a ‘worldwide’ shortage of pink paint…or did it?

The Barbie movie used so much fluorescent pink paint that it led to a worldwide supply shortage of the paint, director Greta Gerwig and the film’s production designer Sarah Greenwood told Architectural Digest.

Well, yes, there is a shortage of pink paint but the Margot Robbie-Ryan Gosling starrer is not at fault.

Rosco, the paint supplier, revealed that they were already in short supply when the movie began production back in 2022.

Despite the supply chain challenges from the pandemic and the Texas freeze in 2021, the paint supplier provided everything they could. But the movie promises a pink paradise and to achieve that Barbie “did clean us out on paint,” says Rosco.

The movie releases on July 21.
