Hollywood is feeling fashionable again as Disney’s The Devil Wears Prada 2, starring Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, shattered box office expectations with a $77 million domestic opening over the weekend.

The figure nearly triples the original’s 2006 domestic debut, which earned $27.5 million.

Globally, the sequel has earned $233.6 million, including $156.6 million from international markets, making it one of the year’s biggest starts behind Michael ($97.5 million), The Super Mario Galaxy Movie ($131 million), and Project Hail Mary ($80 million).

Backed by a $100 million budget, the film is already on track to outpace the original’s $326 million lifetime total.
