Amazon’s MGM Studios has officially dropped Artificial, Luca Guadagnino’s upcoming film about OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, which will now be offered to other studios.

The decision drew scrutiny since it came at a time when Amazon recently announced a $50 billion investment in ChatGPT maker OpenAI as part of a multi-year strategic partnership to accelerate its use of Amazon Web Services.

The Italian filmmaker is known for the Oscar-nominated Call Me By Your Name and has given MGM hits like Challengers.

The film, which is nearly complete, stars Andrew Garfield as Altman, Yura Borisov as co-founder Ilya Sutskever, Monica Barbaro as CTO Mira Murati, and Ike Barinholtz as Elon Musk.
