Disney could limit or even stop accounts if users don’t comply with password-sharing rules|Texas Lane|CC-BY-SA 4.0

Disney is restricting password sharing on its streaming services Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+ beginning March 14. It will impose limitations on sharing accounts with people outside your house.

The move echoes Netflix’s successful crackdown, which thwarted password sharing and increased new subscribers.

Revised user agreements for Hulu, Disney+ and ESPN+ explicitly prohibit users from impersonating others, and Disney might even check your account to ensure you’re following the rules.

If you break the rules, Disney could limit or even stop your account.

The streaming giant is expected to shed more light on this during its fiscal first-quarter earnings call on February 7.
