Disney will raise Disney Plus subscription prices starting October 21. The ad-supported plan jumps $2 to $11.99 per month, while the no-ads Premium plan rises $3 to $18.99 per month.

The annual Premium subscription will climb $30 to $189.99. Various bundles will also cost more.

Since its 2019 launch at $6.99 per month, Disney has raised prices almost every year, making its streaming service profitable for the first time last year.

The timing is tricky

The price hike follows public backlash after Disney’s ABC pulled Jimmy Kimmel Live! over controversial political comments, only to quickly restore it six days later.

Sources indicate that Disney rushed Kimmel’s return to prevent further subscription losses ahead of the upcoming price increases.
