Sports streaming service FuboTV is taking legal action to stop Walt Disney, Warner Bros and Fox from launching their combined sports streaming platform, which would provide content from all major sports leagues.

The New York lawsuit aims to prevent the service’s rollout, scheduled for fall. The suit also demands a jury trial and punitive damages.

Behind the lawsuit
Since the announcement of the sports streaming collab, FuboTV’s shares have fallen by roughly 20%.

The company claims it is being charged above-market prices. It argues that the new service would further restrict access to content, harming competition.

The lawsuit comes after Fox Corp, Disney’s ESPN and Warner Bros Discovery, revealed plans for a new sports streaming service this month. The initiative seeks to attract younger viewers who prefer streaming over traditional TV and viewers opting out of expensive cable bundles.

The collaboration intends to offer an extensive range of sports content, including NFL, NBA, MLB, FIFA and college competitions.
