Gen Z’s obsession with Martha Stewart has led to the re-release of her landmark 1982 book Entertaining on Tuesday. Publisher Clarkson Potter has preserved every detail of the original copy, giving it a retro look in new paper.

Priced at $50—up from the $35 it cost originally—the reprint arrives amid renewed public interest fueled by TikTok and recent Netflix and CNN documentaries about Stewart, who is now 84.

Since the original edition of the book has long been out of print, people bid for used copies online, with some even selling for over $1,000. Pop culture analysts say Stewart’s decor style and food presentation click with the current younger generation, who are obsessed with social media.

Stewart believes young readers will embrace the book because, as she puts it, “I’m cool,” and “Not only can I cook, I hang out with Snoop Dogg and I have gone to jail. I have been through the wringer and come out alive.”

First published at the dawn of America’s 1980s foodie culture, Entertaining featured 300 recipes and 450 photographs, blending menus, décor ideas, and detailed event planning—a best read for the approaching holiday season.
