Netflix stopped accepting Apple payments for new customers in 2018

Netflix wants to discourage subscribers from paying via Apple’s App Store and will ask them to switch their payment plan.

The change affects basic plan subscribers in the US and Canada, aligning with Netflix’s 2018 move to stop accepting Apple payments for new customers.

The streamer would ask customers to update their payment plan to continue using their account, according to Netflix.

Failure to do so before the monthly renewal date will result in account suspension until a new payment method is added.

The development comes amid mounting legal scrutiny over Apple’s 30% in-app purchase fees.

Notably, Epic Games, the creator of Fortnite, has filed a lawsuit against Apple, alleging antitrust violations related to its fee collection practices.
