The domestic box office just shattered records, generating roughly $430 million in a single weekend, driven by blockbuster hits The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
The achievement marks only the second time the domestic box office has crossed $400 million in a single weekend, surpassing the previous record of $402 million set during Avengers: Endgame in 2019.
Leading the surge was the Spider-Man movie, starring Tom Holland and Zendaya. The film delivered a massive $355 million domestic opening, setting new records with $72 million in preview screenings and a $168 million opening day. It also earned a 90% Rotten Tomatoes score and an A CinemaScore, signaling strong audience support and the potential for a long theatrical run.
Meanwhile, Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey added $51 million in its third weekend, pushing its global total to $911 million. The Greek epic is poised to cross $1 billion soon.
