By slashing prices, stores believe they will be able to increase footfall this holiday season
Grocery chains are offering huge discounts on Thanksgiving meal deals to lure inflation-weary customers.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, food prices are up 29% since February 2020. By slashing prices, stores hope to increase footfall this holiday season.
Retailers offer budget-friendly deals
Walmart is offering a full Thanksgiving meal for ten for under $40, including a Butterball turkey. Target has a smaller kit for four people priced under $20, featuring turkey, potatoes, stuffing, gravy, bread, and frozen corn.
Lidl offers a customizable Thanksgiving meal for ten for under $36, while Amazon sells a $25 meal kit for five.
Budget-friendly Aldi has a $40 spread for ten people, complete with turkey, sides, rolls, and dessert.
According to the American Farm Bureau Federation, a traditional meal for ten people is estimated to cost $55.18, the lowest since 2021. Turkey prices have dropped 16.3%, making the main course more affordable.
However, overall costs remain 13% higher than in 2019, and prices for produce like frozen peas, sweet potatoes, and vegetable trays continue to rise.
With competitive pricing across major retailers, Thanksgiving dinner can be festive without straining wallets.
