Grand Theft Auto VI set in a fictional Miami is expected to be one of the most profitable games ever|@RocketStarGames|X
Take-Two Interactive has delayed Grand Theft Auto VI by six months, moving its release date to November 19, 2026.
The company said it wants Rockstar Games to have more time to finish the game with the high level of polish players expect. This marks the second public delay for the highly anticipated title, originally planned for fall 2025.
Market reaction
The delay adds to mounting production costs and sent Take-Two shares down 7% in extended trading, overshadowing quarterly earnings that beat Wall Street expectations.
CEO Strauss Zelnick said delaying games has always proven worthwhile, adding that rivals who launched unfinished titles “did so at their peril.
Outlook for GTA VI
Despite the setback, Grand Theft Auto VI set in a fictional Miami is expected to be one of the most profitable games ever. Its predecessor sold over 220 million copies worldwide.
