A Netflix Games event|Next Games

Netflix is planning on expanding its games—currently available on mobiles—to TVs and PCs, reports the Wall Street Journal. The company has invested about $1 billion in developing games so far and plans to spend more.

A glance at Netflix’s Next Games social media will show the various jobs the streamer is offering, indicating the OTT platform’s commitment to increasing its presence in the multi-billion dollar gaming industry.

The streaming giant already has 400 people working on games based on its popular in-house productions like Stranger Things, Squid Games and Wednesday. These games will be available in the next few months.

Discussions on games based on Black Mirror, Sherlock Holmes and Extraction are also underway.

All games on Netflix are free to play for subscribers. The company hopes to increase subscription numbers by developing more high-end streamable games like Sony and Microsoft (which recently acquired Activision Blizzard).
