The high-end PlayStation 5 Pro would now cost $749.99
Sony is hiking US prices of its PlayStation 5 consoles by about $50 starting Thursday, pushing the high-end PS5 Pro to $749.99.
The price increase comes as new US tariffs on imports from China and Japan raise supply chain costs. Sony similarly hiked prices in Europe earlier this year. Rival Xbox also bumped up prices globally.
Consoles were expected to fuel growth in 2025 thanks to games like Grand Theft Auto VI and Nintendo’s Switch 2 device.
But with the GTA VI delayed until 2026 and console sticker shock setting in, analysts now question how much momentum remains.
