The Department of Homeland Security has been shut down|@DHSgov|X

The Department of Homeland Security shut down over the weekend after the White House and Democratic leaders failed to agree on changes to immigration enforcement following the fatal shootings in Minneapolis.

This impacts many federal employees at agencies such as FEMA, TSA, and the Coast Guard, as they won’t be paid, though most deemed essential will continue working. ICE and Customs and Border Protection are unlikely to be affected.

A prolonged funding fight could leave TSA and Coast Guard employees without pay.
