Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick told senators that he and his family had lunch with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein on the financier’s private island during a 2012 vacation.

The admission confirmed contact years after he had previously claimed that he cut off contact with Epstein after 2005.

He said the visit lasted about an hour and included his wife, four children, nannies, and another family, and that they saw only staff and nothing inappropriate.

The secretary made the admission while facing bipartisan calls to resign, after newly released records showed his business and personal connections to Epstein were more extensive than previously disclosed.

Lutnick had also said he had only limited interactions with Epstein.

However, documents revealed that in December 2012, the two signed an agreement to invest in Adfin, an advertising technology company that has since shut down. Each signed on behalf of separate companies, with their signatures appearing on back-to-back pages.

Meanwhile, the White House said President Donald Trump still supports Lutnick.
