Border czar Tom Homan said President Donald Trump will end the months-long immigration enforcement surge in Minnesota, highlighting that arrests have dropped and tensions have eased in the Twin Cities.

Federal agencies, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP), already removed 700 agents, about 25% of the force. Around 2,000 officers remain, but more will leave next week.

A small team will stay to help local offices take control.

The mission, called Operation Metro Surge, followed two fatal shootings of ICU nurse Alex Pretti and Renee Nicole Good that triggered protests and public anger.

Homan said better coordination with local leaders reduced conflict. He stressed that deportations will continue and the administration will keep enforcing immigration laws nationwide.
