The number of young adults (between 18 and 30) choosing vasectomies and tubal ligations rose abruptly after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, according to a study in the JAMA Health Forum led by the University of Pittsburgh.

The researchers found that tubal ligations jumped among women at roughly double the rate of vasectomies, highlighting the greater urgency to act among women than their male counterparts.

The data was not broken down by states, which would have revealed further details.
