President Donald Trump’s proposal to relocate Palestinians and transform Gaza into the “Riviera of the Middle East” has triggered a global backlash.

Trump, during a press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, suggested the US would “take over” Gaza and proposed leveling the territory, removing explosives and relocating Palestinians elsewhere.

The United Nations warned of potential violations of international law, while China, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Jordan, among other nations, firmly rejected the displacement of Palestinians.

The UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer reiterated that Palestinians must be allowed to return to their homes and rebuild. Starmer and other leaders from France and Germany advocated for a two-state solution.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised Trump’s “fresh ideas,” while Palestinian leaders called the proposal illegal.

Adding to the growing opposition from world leaders, Russian President Vladimir Putin criticized Trump’s plan for Gaza, calling it an example of Western “cancel culture.”
