The IDF attack comes amid warnings of famine in the Gaza region|@azaizamotaz|X

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported the killing of a top Hamas official inside Gaza City’s al-Shifa medical complex yesterday, and the White House confirmed it.

The deceased, Marwan Issa, was the deputy commander of Hamas’s military wing and a prime target for Israel. The IDF said the raid also eliminated Faiq Mabhouh, a Hamas militant responsible for coordinating activities across Gaza.

However, controversy prevails over the operation at al-Shifa, with Israel claiming it targeted a Hamas official and Palestinians alleging the victim was a police official.

The IDF attack comes amid warnings of famine in the region. A UN-backed report said food scarcity is “imminent” in Northern Gaza.

Meanwhile, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu agreed to dispatch officials to Washington after a phone call with President Joe Biden amid concerns over a military move in southern Gaza.

Biden warned against escalating the conflict, urging Israel to seek alternative strategies.

The White House publicly expressed its disagreements with Israel’s strategy, urging for alternatives to avoid civilian casualties and deepen the crisis.
