President Donald Trump condemned Israel’s strike in Qatar that targeted Hamas leaders, saying the attack undermined peace efforts and strained ties with a key US ally.
He posted on Truth Social that the attack “does not advance Israel or America’s goals.”
Qatar, which hosts several thousand US troops and has held Gaza talks. Qatar Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani denounced the strike as “treachery,” raising doubts about ongoing negotiations to end the Gaza conflict.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended the strike, saying it targeted the Hamas officials who planned the October 7 attacks that killed 1,200 Israelis and resulted in 250 hostages.
