President Donald Trump held a two-hour-long phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin yesterday and said ceasefire talks between Moscow and Kyiv would start “immediately.”
However, the Kremlin said the process would take time.
It is yet not clear if the US will continue to be involved in the discussions.
Putin stated that Russia is prepared to collaborate with Ukraine on a memorandum aimed at addressing key issues in any potential peace agreement, including the possibility of a temporary ceasefire.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy renewed Kyiv’s call for a “full and unconditional ceasefire” and urged the US to remain engaged in the peace process.
