President Donald Trump delivered a fiery address at the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, his first in-person address in six years.
His speech began with a broken teleprompter and ended with sharp rebukes of the global body itself.
Trump criticized Europe’s migration policies, warning they were destroying national heritage, and urged nations to adopt his hardline US border measures.
He dismissed climate change as “the greatest con job ever,” attacking green energy initiatives despite overwhelming scientific consensus on its dangers.
On foreign conflicts, Trump gave little attention to the wars in Ukraine and Gaza during his speech. But he later suggested NATO should shoot down Russian aircraft if they violate allied airspace and claimed Ukraine could win back all of its original territory.
Throughout his speech, Trump portrayed the UN as ineffective, mocking its bureaucracy and questioning its relevance.
His audience sat largely silent, a stark contrast to the laughter that greeted his early UN speeches during his first term.
