The suspect who opened fire at Club Q—a gay nightclub in Colorado Springs Saturday—killing five and injuring 25, has been identified.

Anderson Lee Aldrich, 22, is in custody after he was confronted by “heroic” patrons at the club that prevented further violence, said the police. Aldrich used a long rifle and at least two additional weapons were recovered at the site.

In 2021, a man with the same identity was detained after his mother filed a complaint against him for threatening her with homemade bombs and firearms. Authorities did not confirm if it was Aldrich.

The Club Q attack took place on Transgender Day of Remembrance and is eerily similar to the 2016 Pulse club massacre when a gunman killed 49 people in a gay nightclub.
