Sleep-tech startup Eight Sleep has raised $100 million in new funding, pushing its valuation close to $1 billion.

The company, best known for its $5,099 Pod sleep system, is aiming to move beyond wealthy early adopters and reach a broader consumer base.

The Pod is a mattress cover that tracks health data and automatically adjusts temperature. It requires an annual app subscription of up to $399 and offers optional add-ons, such as a $1,000 blanket.

Eight Sleep’s customer base includes billionaire CEOs Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg. Since launching in 2019, the Pod has generated more than $500 million in sales.

With its latest funding, Eight Sleep plans to expand into physical retail, enter the Chinese market, and seek FDA approval so the Pod can be prescribed and reimbursed for conditions like sleep apnea and hot flashes.
