The number of Americans using GLP-1 medications for weight loss has risen to 11% in 2026, up from 3% in 2024, according to a new Gallup survey.
The study, conducted among 5,065 US adults, found that the weight-loss drugs most commonly taken were Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, and Zepbound. Overall, 15% of adults reported using these medications at some point.
The online survey also found that awareness of GLP-1 drugs has climbed to 91%.
Notably, as their use has increased, the US adult obesity rate has fallen from a record 39.9% in 2022 to 36.4% in 2026, while diabetes rates have remained stable.
Brand-name medications remain the most popular choice, but more users are switching to lower-cost compounded versions because of high prices and insurance issues.
About three in four users said the medicines were effective, highlighting their growing role in weight management across the United States.
