A San Francisco jury found Tesla CEO Elon Musk “not liable” for the losses suffered by investors over his 2018 tweet that said he had “funding secured” to take Tesla private.

Nicholas Porritt, an attorney for the Tesla investors, said they are “still considering next steps.”

In August 2018, Musk tweeted, “Am considering taking Tesla private at $420 (US). Funding secured.” But the buyout never materialized and cost investors billions of dollars.

“Thank goodness, the wisdom of the people has prevailed!” tweeted Musk after the jury’s decision.
