Federal Bureau of Investigation Director Kash Patel and AG Pam Bondi were sued on Wednesday by three former FBI colleagues alleging they were illegally fired.
The lawsuit, filed by Michael Driscoll, Steven Jensen, and Spencer Evans, claims the officials were removed at the direction of the White House and the DOJ in efforts to punish those who investigated President Donald Trump in the previous years.
It states that Patel privately admitted that he had to remove employees tied to Trump-related cases or risk losing his own job. He acknowledged the firings violated FBI rules protecting agents from retaliation.
The suit allegations contradict Patel’s sworn Senate testimony, where he promised FBI employees would be safe from political retribution.
