Fortnite players and, in some cases, their parents can apply for a refund if they unintentionally made in-game purchases as part of the settlement reached earlier this year between the game’s parent company Epic Games and the Federal Trade Commission.
The game-maker agreed to a $245 million settlement, per the FTC.
The lawsuit alleged that Epic Games deployed “a variety of design tricks aimed at getting consumers of all ages to make unintended in-game purchases.”
In the settlement, Epic also agreed to pay $275 million to settle FTC’s accusation that it violated the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) by collecting personal information from kids, some even younger than 13, who played Fortnite.
