Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has reportedly formed a small team to build an experimental prediction market app, internally called “Arena,” the New York Times reported.
Following the explosive success of platforms like Kalshi and Polymarket—which drew a combined $50 billion in trades in 2025 and have already surpassed $130 billion this year—Meta wants to capture emerging online behaviors.
It is not the company’s first attempt; it launched Forecast, a pandemic-era prediction app, in 2020, but shut it down in 2022.
Unlike existing platforms that involve real-money trading, Arena is expected to use a video game-style points system initially. Meta aims to leverage its vast user base, with more than 3.56 billion people using at least one of its apps daily.
Meta owns Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Threads, and Messenger.
