President Donald Trump is supporting a federal tax incentive aimed at boosting film and TV production in the US
President Donald Trump is backing a federal tax incentive to bring film and TV production back to the US, an idea California lawmakers have long promoted to protect domestic industry jobs.
Since 2022, around 73,000 media production jobs have been lost nationwide, with about two-thirds occurring in Los Angeles.
However, some Republicans worry about subsidies for multimillion-dollar celebrity salaries.
While 39 US states already offer production tax credits, a proposed federal incentive would stack on top of them, making the country more attractive to filmmakers and helping stem the flow of productions to Canada, the UK, and Australia.
