American right-wing media is debuting at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity this week, urging the advertising industry to look at the consumer market that brands are allegedly missing.
On Wednesday, Ben Shapiro’s conservative digital media site, The Daily Wire, alongside Atlanta-based creative firm LSKR, will host a day of programming near the Palais.
The event aims to challenge the advertising industry’s perceived “groupthink,” which circulates the same idea and targets the same audience.
The right-leaning media panels break Cannes’ unspoken rule of avoiding politics. The Daily Wire is not alone; Trump Media & Technology Group has sent executives to meet with brands, and conservative broadcaster Piers Morgan is co-hosting a yacht party.
According to Semafor's Max Tani, the event will test whether major advertisers are willing to engage with openly conservative political voices after years of emphasizing diversity and inclusion initiatives in their marketing strategies.
