More than 27 years after rap legend Tupac Shakur was fatally shot, an arrest has been made. Las Vegas police charged former gang leader Duane “Keffe D” Davis yesterday for murdering the rapper.

The 60-year-old has been a long-time suspect in the case. He had given interviews and even wrote in his 2019 memoir—‘Compton Street Legend’—that he provided the gun that killed Shakur.

Vegas police say Davis was the “shot caller” of the group that committed the crime. His deceased nephew, Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson, has long been the suspected shooter who killed the rapper.

In July, police executed a search warrant at Davis’s home in Henderson for evidence.

He is charged with one count of murder with a deadly weapon and is due in court next week.

Thug Life rapper Shakur is one of the most famous and controversial figures in hip-hop’s history. He is ranked at number 4 of the top 50 rappers, according to Billboard, and sold more than 75 million copies worldwide.

Known for raps like Dear Mama, Hit ‘Em Up and 1996 epic album All Eyez On Me, Shakur was shot and killed at the age of 25 while waiting at a red light near the Las Vegas Strip on September 7, 1996.
