Country music star Jason Aldean has been caught up in political turmoil ever since the video release of his song ‘Try That In A Small Town’. Country Music Television (CMT) has stopped airing it.

Controversial lyrics
“Try that in a small town/ See how far ya make it down the road/ Around here, we take care of our own.”

“Got a gun that my granddad gave me/ They say one day they’re gonna round up/ Well that s--- might fly in the city/ Good luck.”

The channel accuses Aldean's song of promoting racism and violence. It is criticized for its lyrics and music video.

One of the scenes in the song shows the Maury County Courthouse building in Columbia, Tennesse, the site of the 1946 race riots and the 1927 lynching of an 18-year-old Black man, Henry Choate, by a White mob.

Aldean’s view
The country musician says, “These references are not only meritless, but dangerous. There is not a single lyric in the song that references race or points to it- and there isn’t a single video clip that isn’t real news footage.”

But
The song is also garnering support as top Republicans came forward to defend Aldean. The song even reached the top of many streaming charts.
