Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer stepped down from President Donald Trump’s Cabinet, following multiple allegations of misconduct and an investigation into them.

She is the third Cabinet member to leave after Kristi Noem and Pam Bondi. The White House said she will move to the private sector, while Deputy Keith Sonderling takes over as acting chief.

Chavez-DeRemer’s resignation follows a formal complaint to the inspector general alleging misuse of government funds for personal trips, including luxury hotels, SUV rentals, and meals.

The complaint also accused her of an inappropriate relationship with a security team member.

Additional allegations described a hostile workplace and unprofessional messages to staff by Chavez-DeRemer, her husband, and her father.

Chavez-DeRemer denied wrongdoing, saying she stepped down to prevent disruption in the labor department’s work. She recently completed a 50-state “America at Work” tour and pushed deregulation policies.

Labor Department Inspector General Anthony D’Esposito is investigating the allegations.
