President Donald Trump has dismissed Elon Musk’s announcement of a new America Party, calling it “ridiculous.” He said that “Third parties have never worked” in the US.
Trump also added in a Truth Social post on Sunday that he was “saddened to watch Elon Musk go completely ‘off the rails’.”
Musk announced the new political party on Saturday via X, sharing a poll that showed 65% support for the idea. However, he has yet to file official paperwork or outline any concrete plans.
The move follows Trump’s signing of a “big, beautiful bill,” which Musk recently criticized as “insane”.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent also weighed in, saying Musk’s political shift may worry company board members who would rather see him focus on Tesla and SpaceX.
