A group of eight Senate Democrats joined Republicans on Monday night to pass a funding bill reopening the federal government, despite failing to secure an extension of enhanced Affordable Care Act subsidies.

The measure, approved 60–40 with Sen. Rand Paul as the lone Republican “no” vote, now heads to the House, where GOP leaders hope for quick passage.
